  I've got to get this off my chest before I explode !


How inspired were you seeing the growing momentum of the Olympic flame as it flowed through Australia and set off the dream run of what became the best Olympics  and  best Paralympics ever?
Do you agree there were so many fantastic experiences, sights, sounds and feelings?
Wasn't it incredible to be Australian as we tasted and sniffed challenge and achievement so often. Did you feel  proud as we showed what we could do and awakened our richness of spirit, which was appreciated here and around the world. Absolutely amazing, do you agree? Do you wonder where we are going from here?

How uncomfortable would you have been with this ?  I heard a visitor from overseas
comment that they noticed that most Aussies don't know their own national anthem.   I felt rather uncomfortable as there seems to be a lot of  truth in their observation. Every Aussie I asked agreed with this observation and felt uncomfortable about it.

Are aussies incapable of learning songs?
Is it that Aussie are capable of learning a line, but that is it? We all seemed to learn Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi.  Not only that, it spread like wildfire and the rest of the world learnt it as well.

What can we do with this situation and where are we going from here, I ask you ?

Are we up to a  gold medal challenge. I will lay  out for you :

A purpose (Why)

A goal (What)

and A method (How)

A PURPOSE       WHY ?

It seems to me that that we have awakened something wonderful. I call it richness of spirit, (describe it and call it as you will), that has been awakened in Australia during the Olympics and Paralympics.       I think it is very important that we keep it alive,,,, for you,   for me,  for us, and for others,, for the past, for the present and for the future. I believe there is much to be gained by keeping the richness of spirit alive, a sense of pride in ourselves, pleasure in sharing ourselves and what we have with others. I believe we can profit in many ways from a new sense of confidence and security that has been awakened.
I further believe, that allowing the flame of richness of spirit to snuff out, would be our and other's loss, that we would be uncomfortable in returning to things as they were before. Nor do we want to fear being ridiculed as the country who couldn't learn their own song.
 

Federation Day 1st January 1901 marked the coming together of the states to make up Australia.
What if we marked Federation 2001 with a coming together of the Australian people I wondered?
How could we use our Aussie anthem proactively, as a means of keeping alive and alight, the
richness of spirit between each games, to be rekindled at each future olympic games. It would seem to be a great thing to do, do you agree, to have more of what we do want and less of what we don't want ?
 

A GOAL       WHAT ?

I propose that we set a  structure in place by 1st January 2001 (that is federation day) that has
Aussies learn our national anthem by the lighting of the flame in Athens Olympic games on 10th May 2004. I propose we use our national anthem as a symbol in a resounding and clear way, to solidify and reignite our  richness of spirit each time Aussies sing it together between now, then and future games. Imagine if you will the huge spine tingling sound of a stadium full of Aussies all singing their Aussie anthem, compared to one small person with a microphone singing it. Now which do we want when any Aussie in any sport or endeavor needs our support to perform at their very best, or beyond their best. I say we need this as a national resource, that is what I say!
 
 
 

A METHOD        HOW ?

I have created a  fantastic and very simple solution as a gift for Australians which I call "the flame game". It is intended to have Aussies learn their anthem one person at a time and be  fun, light. enjoyable and uplifting.

Formerly the anthem game we had played by default was, many of us didn't bother
with learning our anthem.

The Flame Game  has only three simple parts.. Guidelines, Learning and Strategy
 
 

GUIDELINES

   I suggest that we play a  new game with these guidelines so each of us get to learn the anthem
 "any Aussie who sings the anthem is rewarded and any Aussie who does not pays the reward".
 "any person can challenge any  Aussie to sing it at any time, at any place. The person who sings most of the anthem is shouted a reward of some kind by the person who sings less of the anthem."

The reward could be anything of gold :
A drink of choice, a beer, a juice, champagne or similar.
Alternatively it could be a gold coin,  sweets wrapped in gold or golden fruit, (as we are going for gold in this game).
 

Aussies who learn it get prepared for many free things.

Drinks as many and as often as you like, those who are slow off the mark, get a drink tray, it's your shout! :)
 

Any person who wants a bit of extra cash, challenge  Aussies as
often as you like. :)  Young people if you want some more pocket money,
you are in luck  :))  Those who are a bit slow off the mark, you better
save your $1 and $2 coins, you'll be needing them.:)))  Alternatively
make or buy something special wrapped in gold as well, you will be needing that. Oh yeah, take a trip to the fruit shop as you will be needing golden fruit as well.  :)
 

LEARNING

 I have broken the anthem down into smaller sections. This is to make it
easier to learn, so you can start getting free drinks and being rewarded by those who have not learnt it yet. It is only  20 lines, which I have divided into 5 small sections.

Send a blank email now to aussieflamegame@freeautobot.com and the  flame games  sections will be sent out to you for FREE, ( it is the fair dinkum FREE )  This way all the 20 lines will be covered  and the structure will be in place for Federation Day 1st January 2001 to be continued until the target date in 2004.
 

STRATEGY

Now this is an important part of the game. You may be curious about what are the best strategies for us to grow our new game, so that we accomplish our purpose and goals as well have loads of fun?

If you want to play for a bronze medal      Immediately email this on now to any  friends or email lists of friends you have. You must do this to make sure many people know about  our  tradition and you can get many free drinks free $ and free eats, you wouldn't want  you or your friends to miss out, would you?
 

If you want to play at a silver medal level as well.  Get your free copy of your anthem, learn it and start challenging any other Aussie and get others to shout you.

If you want to play at the Gold medal level which includes the bronze and silver levels
Then you must email, phone, write or speak to. other people or groups   I request you pass this gift on. Inviting them to play, support and encourage the  "aussie flame game." This is for all the reasons I have mentioned.. Each and every Aussie can and does make a difference, here are some options!

aussies who communicate using a variety of indigenous and  languages new to this land

Some Aussies are not on the net nor computer literate and it would be great to include them. That is something I loved about the Olympics and Paralympics, it was so inclusive. You may like to

Print these pages out, clip them together and write "read this and pass it on" across the top of the front page and gift it to other aussies to read and pass on.

Naturally other strategies may occur to you as well..
 

WARNING WARNING WARNING

I will be hoping to run into you really soon, particularly if you aren't quick off the mark with  the anthem as I feel like a few drinks, could do with some extra cash and would like a few choice golden mangoes. O course I will be having some special treats as well.
(Make sure you have them ready for me)  :)  :) And if we each know it, we can fan our richness of spirit by singing it together and buying each other a drink while we plot how to get free drinks from others.  :)
