Joseph Benedict Chifley was born in Bathurst N.S.W. on the 22nd September 1885 and educated at a bush school.

His political party was Australian Labor.

He spent 10 years in office.

One of his major achievements was the Snowy Mountains Scheme and bringing in immigrants coming after the war.

Sadly Chifley suffered a heart attack and died at his desk in Canberra on June 13th, 1951.
